| Comment: The Epic Poem of Chilly Willy and the Boy who Believed There once was a peguin named chilly willy, there were many who thought that he was just silly. Everyday willy would cry, Why don't people believe in me! He would say with a sigh. Day after day Willy would mope, while people would just say he was a dope, Then came the day that saved Willy's life, a boy came to take away Willy's toil and strife. The boy's name was Calvin, and he was so loyal and brave, he knew chilly willy was alive, he'd swear it to the grave, people would laugh at Calvin for his silly belief, but he knew that chilly was real, as real as roast beef Calvin took riducule, persecution and scorn, but he never denied his willy, even though at times he felt torn. The other kids called him dumb, loony, and crazy, but Calvin was steady and noble, just like a daisy. Finally Calvin set out to prove that he was smarter than all the others, he knew that Chilly was real, as real as his own mother. He set out on a search for Chilly far and wide, down to the depths of every ocean, up every mountainside. Chilly! He would call, I know that you are there! My friends won't believe in you and only I really care, is there some way you could come with me to prove, all those kids of your reality so I won't have to move! In the depths of a deep cave, willy was sitting alone, wondering what he would do so he could end this poem. Then he heard a voice, in the distance, not so clear, at first he thought he'd imagined it, and out of his eye leaked a tear. But then Willy heard it again, and it said with joyous praise, Willy I believe in you, and I will for all my days! Willy jumped up from his rock, and ran out of his cave, And he saw the boy who would believe to the end of his days. Chilly returned with Calvin to his native land and heeded his call, Calvin stood before his friends, noble and tall, I know you think i'm crazy, but you'll never think that again. For I have found Chilly Willy who will always be my friend. And what acclamations of joy were then insued, as Calvin's friends believed him and admitted they were rude. Now they all believe in Chilly Willy and always will, they sit and talk of him amidst the daffodils. Chilly Willy, wherever you are, know that you are remembered, near and far, because of a faithful boy who never gave in, and believed in you to the very end. By: Julie Lott (Now a believer) | |
